Your Questions Answered About the Diane Rogers Kin Pride Award

February 25, 2013
By Lauren MacDonald-Schlaht

With the Diane Rogers Kin Pride Award questions posted as of March 1, 2013 (and due April 15, 2013!), we thought we'd share an interview with last year's winner, Barb McArthur. We asked her a series of questions and this is what she had to say:

What was your first impression when you read over the questionnaire? Too long, too hard, too easy? OMG!  I think the number of questions is the right amount.

Did you share your answers when others have asked? Yes.

Did you work as a team? Yes, invited other members of our club to work on the award submission.

Did you ask anyone outside your club? Yes, Governors, Past Governors, Past National Presidents, Past Committee Members, members across Canada.

How long did it take you to complete the questionnaire? Estimate 7 to 8 hours.

What did you learn that you didn’t know before? Lots – it is all educational, provides opportunities for networking skills and communication skills.

Any advice for those who are planning to participate? Don’t panic when you look at the questions!  Go thru the questions, and answer the easier ones first, then work on the rest.  Utilize the Kin website and all Kin materials to assist with answering the questions.  Ask lots of people for help or direction of who to ask.  Don’t be afraid to ask for help.  Work as a team, it helps to work together with others and talk thru the questions, who to contact or search for the answers – have FUN while completing the task!

Who was your biggest or most helpful resource? Governors and Past Governors, but everyone that was contacted was very helpful.

There you have it!

The Diane Rogers Kin Pride Award is due April 15, 2013.  You have a month and a half to search high and low and once you’ve completed your answers, please visit our Member Centre under Awards to submit your final answers.

In efforts to go green, we’re testing out online submission. Since this is a test, we appreciate your patience during any glitches. If you participate in the online submission, you will receive BONUS MARKS! Woot!

The winner will be announced at the 2013 KINvention.  See you at the Podium.

Note: The interview with Barb McArthur was originally featured in the February issue of KIN Magazine.
