Description of project One of the girls in our club had the idea and we just all jumped on board as a great idea. We chose 2 seniors homes in the Interlake region, I called and asked for a list of men and women ( we did not require names) and then 2 of our members purchased the items/ gifts within our community and those same 2 members who knit for Project Linus (make donated blankets to hospitals, ambulances, etc) donated blankets and we had a wrapping party and fellowship at a members home one evening. Then 2 of our members delivered the bags. Happy Seniors ?Š This year the flower shop is donating the gift bags
Service Hours 1-20
Did you leverage this project as a way to recruit new members? Yes
If you answered yes to the question above, please explain: There is always an opportunity to recruit when we speak with other members of our community. Nursing home staff, store clerks, etc.
How was this project promoted in your community? Just word of mouth
What were some challenges you faced with this project, and how could your project be improved? We would have loved to do all the seniors homes atound our region but could not do all at once. We will spread the love year to year
What was the approximate budget for this project? Less than $1,000
If the project was a fundraiser, what were the sources of revenue for this project? Not applicable. Not a fundraiser.
If this was a fundraiser, how much money was raised (minus expenses)? Not Applicable
What were the expenses for this project? $110.00. We were fortunate to find many sales in town. Blankets were donated. One home only requested blankets.
Is there anything else you would like to share that would assist another club in duplicating this project in their community? Start early enough to allow time for shopping for the harder to find items/ sizes. Shop with seniors in mind. Not so much fashion as Comfort and Warmth. ?Š Stretchy socks, warm button up sweaters etc. and warm colourful robes
