Description of project This project we start working on a year in advance. We work closely with the als society and attend a workshop put on by the society to learn more about the walk and als. We also work with embassadors who help get donations of food and entertainment for the morning of the walk.
Service Hours 51-100
Did you leverage this project as a way to recruit new members? Yes
If you answered yes to the question above, please explain: We use news and media to attract attention of possible members. This is a very large project and raises a lot of money for the als society so possible members would more than likely hear about it. We are a small club and to run this project we need all hands on deck. So any project big or small we are always looking for new people.
How was this project promoted in your community? Global news does a spot on the news for us. Radio stations promote our event and we ise social media and our website to promote.
What were some challenges you faced with this project, and how could your project be improved? Man power is huge. Our club is so small so we rely on the kinsmen to help us pull it off. This past year we were very lucky to have had embassadors help in putting it together and getting donation after donation to help with our day.
What was the approximate budget for this project? No cost (ex. KINdness project, time only)
If the project was a fundraiser, what were the sources of revenue for this project? Our community pledged money when they came and did the walk or we had people fill out pledges online through the als society.
If this was a fundraiser, how much money was raised (minus expenses)? Not Applicable
What were the expenses for this project? No expenses, all donation
Is there anything else you would like to share that would assist another club in duplicating this project in their community? Make connections with grocery stores and local shops around you and in good time in advance. Our club made a partnership with the als society and that is why we do this project annually this is a guarentee that we will be able to promote this project every year. Start planning early, contact the als society and let them know yoy are interested. Have your chair be ready and willing to delegate tasks. Leadership is huge when it comes to this big project.
