Provincial and National Recognition Awards

There are many opportunities outside of Kin Canada to win awards and be recognized for volunteerism throughout the country. Check out the National and Provincial opportunities listed below.

National Awards

Governor General’s Caring Canadian Award

The award recognizes individuals who volunteer their time to help others and to build a smarter and more caring nation. For details, visit the Governor General’s website.

 

Prime Minister’s Volunteer Awards

The Prime Minister's Volunteer Awards recognize the enormous contribution volunteers make to Canada. It also recognizes the exceptional contributions of volunteers, local businesses and innovative not-for-profit organizations in improving the well-being of families and their communities. Provincial Awards

Alberta

Stars of Alberta Volunteer Awards 
The Stars of Alberta Volunteer Awards recognize extraordinary Albertans whose volunteer efforts have contributed to the well-being of their community and fellow community members. Six awards, two in each category of youth, adult and senior are presented each year.

 

British Columbia

British Columbia Community Achievement Awards
The British Columbia Community Achievement Awards celebrate British Columbian's who go above and beyond in their dedication and service to others and who devote time and energy to making their communities more caring, dynamic, beautiful, healthy, and unique. They inspire by their example.

Manitoba

Premier’s Volunteer Service Award
The Premier's Office, in cooperation with Volunteer Manitoba, established this award to honour the efforts and dedication of outstanding volunteers in Manitoba and recognize and encourage the valuable services performed by volunteers throughout the province.

 

Lieutenant Governor’s Awards
The Lieutenant Governor's Awards recognize individuals for their contributions to the community through voluntary service.

Newfoundland & Labrador

URock Volunteer Award
This award highlights and recognizes the important role young people and youth-led organizations play in making their communities healthier and happier places.

Northwest Territories

NWT Volunteer Awards Program These awards recognize the voluntary achievements and contributions made by volunteers in Northwest Territories communities.

Nova Scotia

Representative Volunteer Award
This award is given to volunteers who have made an outstanding contribution in their community. Municipalities, towns and villages select one volunteer who will come forward on behalf of all the volunteers in their area to be recognized.

 

Model Volunteer Community Awards
This award recognizes a community that has shown ongoing support for volunteers who have worked together as a community on a project or projects to enhance the lives of its residents, and managed, through the support of volunteers, to make their community a better place in which to live.

Youth Volunteer of the Year: This award recognizes a youth aged 13 – 24 who has made a significant contribution as a volunteer.

Volunteer Family Award: Non-profit organizations, community groups, businesses, individuals and municipalities may nominate a family (any combination of two or more persons that are bound together over time, living in the same community) in Nova Scotia that have made outstanding contributions as volunteers. 

Ontario

Ontario Medal for Good Citizenship The Ontario Medal for Good Citizenship recognizes individuals who, through exceptional long-term efforts, have made outstanding contributions to their communities. 

 

Ontario Medal for Young Volunteers The Ontario Medal for Young Volunteers acknowledges outstanding contributions made by youth volunteers across the province. 

Ontario Volunteer Service Award
The Ontario Volunteer Service Award recognizes individual volunteers for continuous years of commitment and dedicated service to an organization.
Ontario Senior Achievement Award
The Ontario Senior Achievement Award honours people who have made an outstanding contribution to their community after age 65.
Ontario Newcomer Champion Award Ontario Newcomer Champion Award recognize individuals and groups who have made a difference in their community and province through active citizenship and engagement. Award recipients are champions of voluntarism, proud supporters of newcomers, and advocates of greater social and civic inclusion.

June Callwood Outstanding Achievement Award
The June Callwood Outstanding Achievement Award for Voluntarism recognizes individuals and groups for superlative volunteer contributions to their communities and to the province of Ontario.

Quebec

Hommage Benevolat-Quebec
This award recognizes the exceptional commitment and valuable contribution of volunteers and organizations in every region of Quebec.

 

Municipal Merit Award
The Mérite municipal awards pay tribute to citizens who have helped to improve quality of life in their community through volunteer work or outstanding achievements that supported or continue to support municipal initiatives in providing quality services.

Saskatchewan

Saskatchewan Volunteer Medal
The Saskatchewan Volunteer Medal is a formal recognition of volunteers, both expressing the gratitude of the community and of presenting role models to the people of the province.

Yukon

Commissioners Award for Public Volunteer Service
Honours an outstanding individual who has made a significant volunteer contribution to Yukon business, academics, arts, culture or society.
