Did you leverage this project as a way to recruit new members? Unsure
If you answered yes to the question above, please explain:
How was this project promoted in your community? newspapers, local cable TV, flyers,
What were some challenges you faced with this project, and how could your project be improved? Weather. We go rain or shine. Ducks are all presold but bad weather hampers the crowd.
What was the approximate budget for this project? $1,000-$5,000
If the project was a fundraiser, what were the sources of revenue for this project? Sale of ducks, burgers / sausages at the the event.
If this was a fundraiser, how much money was raised (minus expenses)? $5,000-$10,000
What were the expenses for this project? We own about 2,000 ducks at a cost of about $5.00 each. Originally were shared by another Kinsmen Club but they are no longer doing the event. The small $5.00 ducks are reused year after year. The corporate ducks are retained by the local businesses as a promotional item.. They cost the club about $7.00 and we sell them for $25.00. Last year we sold 200 of these.
Is there anything else you would like to share that would assist another club in duplicating this project in their community? It's a great project, gives the club good visibility in the community. It's easy for us now because of it's success but it was slow to get started in the beginning. The important thing is the setting. A club would need a park like setting with a stream running through it. Any clubs interested would be welcome to contact us for any help or suggestions.
