Was this project a fundraiser? Yes
Description of project Members of our club reached out local businesses for donations of items that would be used as auction items. Business names are tagged in the listings to help promote people to their page as well. Once auction was live, it basically ran itself by members of the Facebook Auction Group bidding in the comment section. Once the auction was over (ran for a week), high bidders were contacted, payments were made either by E-Transfer or cash, and a date was set to arrange pick ups. All money collected was then handed to the club treasurer to be deposited in club account which in turn is used for our donations to community groups.
Service Hours 21-50
Did you leverage this project as a way to recruit new members? No
If you answered yes to the question above, please explain:
How was this project promoted in your community? Project was all done through Facebook, and we asked people to share the group page around. The more members of the group, the more potential bids come in.
What were some challenges you faced with this project, and how could your project be improved? There were no real challenges to this project other than turning on the off the comments on each individual picture of the auction item. Once comments were turned off after the auction deadline, people could no longer place a bid.
What was the approximate budget for this project? No cost (ex. KINdness project, time only)
If the project was a fundraiser, what were the sources of revenue for this project?
If this was a fundraiser, how much money was raised (minus expenses)? $1,000-$5000
What were the expenses for this project? NO expenses were used on this project as we relied on donated items. However, if we did have to spend any money on any of the items, it would have been listed with a reserve bid. Fortunately for us, this was a 100% profitable project
Is there anything else you would like to share that would assist another club in duplicating this project in their community?
