Description of project The Foothills Kinettes Club leads attended required orientation, planned a meal, purchase groceries, and the club came together to prepare and serve brunch to the Calgary Ronald McDonald House families. Our menu included: main dishes of three types of frittatas, french toast, and sausage with sides of fruit, yogurt and juice. The meal included both meat and vegetarian options. We had 11 people volunteer for this event.
Service Hours 51-100
Did you leverage this project as a way to recruit new members? Yes
If you answered yes to the question above, please explain: This project was not set out to recruit new members. We did have a possible recruit volunteer and a Kin kid (teen) volunteer on this project.
How was this project promoted in your community? No pre-promotion of project. Highlighted our service project on our community-based facebook page after the project.
What were some challenges you faced with this project, and how could your project be improved? Selecting the menu. Even though Calgary Ronald McDonald House didn't have any rules around dietary restrictions, we tried to ensure that we had vegetarian and cultural (no pork) options.
What was the approximate budget for this project? Less than $1,000
If the project was a fundraiser, what were the sources of revenue for this project?
If this was a fundraiser, how much money was raised (minus expenses)? Not Applicable
What were the expenses for this project? $375. We made 70 meals. Some of the meals were served to families. Most of the meals were packaged for use by families that did not make it for brunch meal or for use later in the day or the next day.
Is there anything else you would like to share that would assist another club in duplicating this project in their community? This was a great fellowship project for our club
