|Description of project
|Has been running for upwards of 20 years. We rent the local community centre and bring in 3 professional comedians. A DJ does a dance after the comedians. There is a cash bar run by the club. Tickets are $20.00 per person.
|Did you leverage this project as a way to recruit new members?
|If you answered yes to the question above, please explain:
|How was this project promoted in your community?
|newspaper, posters throughout town, local radio and cable TV.
|What were some challenges you faced with this project, and how could your project be improved?
|First few years were lean and not as profitable as now. It has become an institution in town and people are always asking when it's happening. We sell 350 tickets.
|What was the approximate budget for this project?
|If the project was a fundraiser, what were the sources of revenue for this project?
|Ticket sales and bar sales.
|If this was a fundraiser, how much money was raised (minus expenses)?
|What were the expenses for this project?
|Comedians cost about $2200.00, hall rental $650.00, late night snack costs the club about $300.00. Hall decorations $300.00
|Is there anything else you would like to share that would assist another club in duplicating this project in their community?
|At the end of the day this event generates about $8000 in profit to the club. It's relatively easy to do. We use an agency to supply the comedians with the condition they keep their program a little subdued. Comedians can often become quite vulgar and we were getting complaints but nothing lately.
