Hello from National President Ron

Welcome to a new Kin year. A little late for a welcome as many clubs are already into the thick of things, underway and off to a running start.  Already Kin Canada has experienced a hand full of Life Memberships to begin the year.  Congratulations to those recipients and thank you for your commitment to Kin Canada over your “Kin Career”. You have joined an elite group of members and it is now your responsibility to be sure to continue to mentor the new members. Kin Canada has also experienced a handful of new club charters for the start of the year. These will give a great kick start to membership growth for the coming year. Continue recruiting, chartering, and retaining members. Offer a great positive volunteer experience and you will be successful.  +122 members last year and we have an opportunity to duplicate the success in membership again. Imagine what the future looks like and the impact you will have on your communities as we move forward.

Many members have already had the opportunity to experience their Fall Leadership Conferences. Feedback has been positive with great learning opportunities and a chance for the National Board of Directors to engage the membership in the consultation of the future. Feedback from National Convention in August and FLC’s in October has led to information gathering that will have the board continue strategic work on the future of Kin.  Your input will be seen in the months to come and further communication will ensure the dialogue continues to be back and forth.

Now onto the fun stuff!  As we enter November, now is the time to reflect on the many freedoms we have due to those that have fought for our country and honour those that have made the ultimate sacrifice. Many clubs are planning their Christmas campaigns. Whether it be Santa Claus parades, helping out with Salvation Army kettle campaigns, toy drives, food drives, Christmas tree shacks or caroling, the work that you do will have a positive result on the community. You all have the chance to put a smiling face on someone else this holiday season. Ask those around you if they too would like to volunteer and change someone’s life, volunteering and Kin may just be the gift someone needs.
