Telemiracle continues to build a legacy

Forty years ago a group of Kinsmen in Saskatchewan sat around a table at some point and came up with the idea of a province-wide telethon. “The Kinsmen Foundation, provides special needs equipment and access to medical assistance to Saskatchewan residents, groups and health foundations to improve quality of life and independence,” details the Foundation’s website.

It's been a busy month for Kin and it marked the club's anniversary with Founder's Night. On Feb. 20, 1920 in Hamilton, Ont., Hal Rogers held the first Kinsmen meeting.

Kevin Twomey doesn’t do it for the recognition. In fact, when asked to talk about his latest achievement, the public relations officer with Fonthill and District Kinsmen instead lists off other club members he feels are more deserving. But it’s that spirit that earned the Pelham resident the recent designation as a Life Member of the Kinsmen — the highest honour one can achieve in the Kin Canada organization.
