Kevin Twomey doesn’t do it for the recognition. In fact, when asked to talk about his latest achievement, the public relations officer with Fonthill and District Kinsmen instead lists off other club members he feels are more deserving. But it’s that spirit that earned the Pelham resident the recent designation as a Life Member of the Kinsmen — the highest honour one can achieve in the Kin Canada organization.

The Wasaga Beach Lions Club recently presented a $1,000 cheque to the Kinette Club of Wasaga Beach to supply toys to local children.
The ‘Music in the Fields’ weekend concert in Lucknow in August is going to benefit the Alexandra Marine and General Hospital in Goderich.
“In the past few years, on average, we helped between 200 and 300 families. We were able to give each of those families two weeks of groceries,” she said.
The $25 to $30 per day that it costs to heat the cold weather shelter downtown beside the Fire Hall has been taken care of for the year, thanks to a $3,600 donation from the Kinsmen.
A good deed of the Duncan Kinsmen Club has turned into a gift that keeps on giving. This summer, the club rallied around the kids of the B.C. Lions Society Easter Seals Camp Shawnigan, stepping up to repair the dilapidated camp pool. In the process it put swimming back on the list of camp activities and saved the Lions Society a $30,000 repair job. The Lions Society will repay the favour Sunday by featuring the Kinsmen project during its annual Timmy's Christmas Telethon.
The Kinsmen Care Foundation along with Can West Legacy stepped up to pay for the decals – which have seen 5,000 ordered in the first batch – and are happy to contribute to the cause. “Hopefully this will be a visual reminder on every vehicle that our military and first responders are very important,” said Sean Libin, chair of the foundation.
