CORNWALL, Ontario - A fleet of muscle cars and souped-up rides will turn Lamoureux Park into a motorhead's paradise at the second Kinsmen in Motion: Show & Shine on Sunday, August 24.

Demographics are shifting, and fewer Canadians are volunteering regularly, but service clubs across the country continue to give back to their communities – and members say that won’t stop, despite recent challenges in attracting and retaining members.

A Medicine Hat nurse is the lucky winner of this year’s Kinsmen Home Lotto. “I was shaking, I was a little bit in disbelief,” said Marylou Schmunk, who Tuesday night won the 2,250 sq.-ft. Jayco home in Somerset. The home is valued at $500,000.

Cornwall Kinsmen Minor Girls Recreational Softball turns 30 this summer, and they're going big with the annual season-ending tournament, being held on Aug. 8-10. They'll certainly look sharp, as the association has new uniforms for all of its teams this season. "The big thing is, we replaced all 240 uniforms this year, from mites to midget," said Mike Turcotte, president of the Kinsmen softball program.

Kinsmen Park now has a new attraction for young families, with the addition of a fire engine for toddlers and preschoolers to climb on, explore and spark imaginative play.

Peace, love, music and fundraising combined to make the first ever Dresden Kinstock a success on Saturday night. Chair Darren Wills said the event raised some $7,000, a portion of which will go toward the club’s commitment of $50,000 to the Dresden Health Complex, while the rest will be used for various club projects.

The Annual New Glasgow Kinsmen Chicken Barbeque at Glasgow Square appears to have been a success.
