Westminster School is installing a leadership program for kids thanks to a donation from the Kinsmen.
The school received $4,000 from the Kinsmen executive during a cheque presentation last week. The funds will be used to implement the Leader in Me program, which centres around the book “7 Habits of Highly Effective People” by Stephen Covey.
The program currently runs in seven other elementary schools, and is incorporated into what was the “Wilson Way” at Wilson Middle School, said Sheryl Hawkins, Leader in Me district representative.
Sponsored by the local Kinsmen Club, the Kinsmen Kinder Turf program aims to get parents and their children playing together two times a week.
“We do different activities that help with coordination and balance,” said Therens-Olafson who runs the program.
