Kevin Twomey doesn’t do it for the recognition. In fact, when asked to talk about his latest achievement, the public relations officer with Fonthill and District Kinsmen instead lists off other club members he feels are more deserving. But it’s that spirit that earned the Pelham resident the recent designation as a Life Member of the Kinsmen — the highest honour one can achieve in the Kin Canada organization.
Kin Canada was awarded Outstanding Philanthropic Group by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Greater Toronto Chapter. Our friends at Cystic Fibrosis Canada nominated us. Thank you. It's an honour. See page 4.
he club received the Ian McClure award for the highest Kinsmen Club donation, club of the year and largest increase in its annual donation of any club of the central region. Last year, the club raised $31,000 for Cystic Fibrosis Canada, with $17,000 of that from the annual Pub Putt.
A local man known for his volunteering in the community has been chosen to represent Eastern Ontario and Northern Ontario as Allstate's Community Hero. Ray Eady was recognized for the work he does in the community by volunteering and being involved with different service clubs in Cornwall and area and will represent the region in the insurance company's national Community Hero Program.
Kin Canada Wins the Association of Fundraising Professional's Outstanding Foundation Award.
Stewart Ruffley has witnessed horrific experiences in his life time that have left him wondering “what kind of world” he lives in. But joining the Fort Erie Kinsmen Club has helped to renew Ruffley’s spirit. Ruffley spoke about his experiences at a speaking competition hosted by the Kinsmen organization in the spring. He was the winner of the Gord Harbison Public Speaker Award and the Bill Esson Kin Quill Award.
We’re pleased to announce the Bible Hill Kinsman Club recently won the Ray Wamboldt Attendance award, given each year to the club in Atlantic Canada having the highest percentage of attendance of members at club meetings. This award serves as an indication of the dedication of our 20 members and the high regard given to club meetings. The Bible Hill Kinsmen are also earning the Boake Efficiency Award and the Outstanding Club Award, two awards from Kin Canada for clubs going above and beyond serving their communities.
NEW WATERFORD — The New Waterford Kinsmen Club held its annual awards ceremony recently, but this year there was an extra surprise. During the event the Kinsmen led in the family of Angus Gillis, a director with the club, to be on hand for the presentation of a life membership award to Gillis.
