Kinsmen hosting Saucy Fundraiser

The title of Timmins sauce king has been vacated and the time has come for someone to fill to void.

The spaghetti dinner itself is $10 a plate, and we’re raising funds for the Lord’s Kitchen, so hopefully we’ll have a good turnout. We’re hoping to get to $1,000. Last year, we made about $500 to $600, around there, so we want to up that.

New Program to get Kids More Active

Sponsored by the local Kinsmen Club, the Kinsmen Kinder Turf program aims to get parents and their children playing together two times a week.

“We do different activities that help with coordination and balance,” said Therens-Olafson who runs the program.

Twomey - Life Member Award

Kevin Twomey doesn’t do it for the recognition. In fact, when asked to talk about his latest achievement, the public relations officer with Fonthill and District Kinsmen instead lists off other club members he feels are more deserving. But it’s that spirit that earned the Pelham resident the recent designation as a Life Member of the Kinsmen — the highest honour one can achieve in the Kin Canada organization.
