Listowel Kinsmen give $125,000 to Arena Project

The Kinsmen Club of Listowel recently met with fundraising campaign members for the new Listowel arena, presenting them with a cheque for $125,000. Kinsmen Club president Matt Edgar said the decision to support the Steve Kerr Memorial Complex was unanimous.
“When we discussed it, everyone in the club was in favour of making a contribution,” Edgar said. “This new complex is an important piece in helping North Perth continue to grow and be prosperous.”
Edgar said a considerable amount of time was taken by the club to discuss the donation, and that it wouldn’t put any other Kinsmen donations in jeopardy.

Prom Project Niagara is pulling out all the stops to ensure every student feels like a prince or a princess on prom night. The program, held in conjunction with the Education Foundation of Niagara and PenFinancial, offers soon-to-be graduates with a selection of dresses, suits, shoes and jewelry free of charge. “It’s a real eye-opener when it comes to the amount that some parents spend on their daughters,” said Fort Erie Kinette Sandra Fickel.

Forty years ago a group of Kinsmen in Saskatchewan sat around a table at some point and came up with the idea of a province-wide telethon. “The Kinsmen Foundation, provides special needs equipment and access to medical assistance to Saskatchewan residents, groups and health foundations to improve quality of life and independence,” details the Foundation’s website.
